Discover the enchanting beauty of Assam and Meghalaya on a 7-day tour. Begin your journey in Guwahati with a visit to the iconic Kamakhya Temple and a cruise on the Brahmaputra River. Explore Kaziranga National Park for a wildlife safari to spot the famous One-  Horned Rhinoceros.Then, head to Shillong, the "Scotland of the East," and explore scenic spots like Umiam Lake and Shillong Peak. Visit the stunning Nohkalikai Falls and Living Root Bridges in Cherrapunji, followed by a trip to the pristine village of Mawlynnong and the crystal-clear Dawki River. This tour offers a perfect blend of nature, adventure, and culture.

Daywise Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 : Arrival in Guwahati.

Upon arrival in Guwahati, our representative will meet you and transfer you to the hotel. In the evening, visit Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra to experience a cultural program.

Shankardev Kalakshetra: This is a great place that displays the rich history and culture of Assam in a large area. It has a beautiful museum with masks from Majuli Island, traditional clothing, and jewelry from Northeast India. There’s also a Namghar, an Assamese prayer hall, and an open-air theater for performances and cultural events during festivals.
Overnight stay at Guwahati.

Day 2 : Transfer to Shillong.

We will embark on our journey to Shillong, which is commonly known as the "Scotland of the East."

En route visit: 

Barapani (Umiam Lake): Two heavenly sisters traveled to Meghalaya. One arrived, but the other did not. Heartbroken, the first sister cried so much that a lake formed from her tears, called Umiam Lake or Barapani. Today it is a center for water sports like speed boats, sailboats, and water scooters. Next to the lake, Nehru Park features an aviary and a variety of orchids and butterflies.

After arrival at Shillong check in at hotel.

Stay at Shillong.

Day 3 : Day Excursion to Cherrapunjee.

Nohkalikai Falls: This waterfall is located 4 kms from Cherrapunjee and is between 1500 and 2000 feet tall, making it the fourth longest fall in the world. It has a tragic legend associated with its name. A woman named Ka Likai had an illegitimate child. Her jealous husband killed their daughter, cooked her, and served her to Ka Likai. After discovering the truth, she killed her husband and jumped off the cliff, leading to the waterfall's name, Fall of Ka Likai.

Mawsmai Cave: This 250m long cave is a major tourist attraction in Cherrapunjee, located 6 kms from the town near Mawsmai village. It is a natural limestone cave with many stalagmites and stalactites. The caves are dark inside, and electric torches are provided for tourists' convenience.

Thangkharang Park: Thangkharang Park is located 12 kilometers from Cherrapunjee. This park serves as a habitat for numerous species of orchids and birds. On a clear day, visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of the plains of Bangladesh, extending up to 180 degrees.

Stay at Shillong.

Day 4 : Day Excursion to Mawlynnong & Dawki ( Indo - Bangladesh Border ).

After Breakfast transfer to Mawlynnong. Visit Dawki (Bangladesh Border) and the Mawlynnong village. Mawlynnong, a village in North East India, is known for its cleanliness and was named Asia's cleanest village by Discover India magazine. The village, located 90 km from Shillong, encourages residents to participate in cleaning and encourages rainwater harvesting.

Living Root Bridge: A monumental bridge made of living roots. Living root bridges, tree-shaped structures using ficus plant roots, are common in Meghalaya, India, and handmade by Khasi and Jaiñtia peoples in the Shillong Plateau mountainous region. 75 were discovered in 2017 and found in Nagaland, Indonesia, and Java. 

Balancing Rock: A rock that you can see from the road. A balancing rock, also known as balanced rock, precariously balanced rock, or precarious boulder, is a naturally occurring geological formation with a large boulder resting on other rocks, bedrock, or glacial till, with no single scientific definition. 

Stay at Shillong.

Day 5 : Transfer to Kaziranga.

After breakfast drive from Shillong to Kaziranga. Kaziranga National park is a world heritage site famous for the Great Indian One Horned Rhinoceros. The landscape of Kaziranga is of sheer forest, tall elephant grass, rugged reeds, marshes and shallow pools.Kaziranga also has a good number of Tigers and is home to large breeding population of Elephants, Wild Water Buffalo and Swamp Deer.

Overnight at Kazirang.

Day 6 : Kaziranga local and transfer to Guwahati.

Today early morning proceed for the exclusive jeep safari 

Jeep Safari: Take an adventurous jeep safari through the park's marked zones, and keep your eyes peeled for incredible wildlife, including one-horned rhinos, tigers, elephants, swamp deer, and many more species roaming the tall grasslands.

After breakfast explore the local sight seening.

Bird Watch Point: Kaziranga is a paradise for bird lovers, showcasing a variety of unique species including the great hornbill, pelicans, and bar-headed geese. The area's wetlands and forests offer an optimal habitat for both local and migratory avifauna.

National Orchid and Biodiversity Park: The National Orchid and Biodiversity Park, situated in Assam, is a repository of over 500 species of orchids, alongside various medicinal plants and native flora, which collectively illustrate the region's rich biodiversity. The park also includes cultural exhibits that underscore Assam's traditions and natural heritage. It functions as both a conservation center and an educational destination for those who appreciate nature and culture.

Hathikuli and Addabarie Tea Estate: Hathikuli Tea Estate, near Kaziranga National Park, is India's largest certified organic tea estate. Visitors can explore the tea-making process, enjoy lush greenery, and enjoy premium-quality Assam tea. Kaziranga Addabarie Tea Estate offers traditional tea-making practices.

Transfer to Guwahati & overnight stay.

Day 7 : Explore Guwahati Local and drop Guwahati Station/Airport

Today early morning visit the Kamakhya Temple and local sight seening (if time Permit.)

The Nilachal Hills is known for its Tantra (Black Magic) and the sacred Kamakhya Temple. This ancient shrine, linked to Tantric and shakti Cults of Hinduism, was originally destroyed in the 16th century but was rebuilt in 1665 AD by King Naranarayan.

Umananda Temple: Umananda Temple, located on Peacock Island, is a serene place of worship dedicated to Lord Shiva. Named after the Hindi words 'Uma' and 'Ananda', it is situated on the island's Bhasmakala hill. Built in 1694 A.D., it was rebuilt in 1897. The temple houses 10 other Hindu Gods and is a serene environment, offering a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of religious ceremonies.

Guwahati Zoo: The Assam State Zoo cum Botanical Garden, also known as the Guwahati Zoo, is a renowned wildlife sanctuary in Guwahati, India. Covering 430 acres in the densely vegetated Hengrabari Forest Area, it is the largest of its kind in the North-East region. The zoo features captivating landscape gardens, a diverse wildlife, and a serene environment, making it an admirer's paradise.

Umananda Island (Peacock Island): Umananda Island, the world's smallest river island, is home to the rare Golden Langurs, a sacred species in the Himalayas. Known as Peacock Island by British colonists, it is believed to be the site where Lord Kamdev was burned to ashes by Lord Shiva's third eye. The island's main attraction is the Umananda Devi Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva.

Guwahati War Cemetery: Established by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission during the war, this cemetery was located in an area that housed multiple military hospitals. It was initially designated as a burial site for those who died within these hospitals. Today, it is the final resting place for 517 casualties.
