Daywise Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 : Arrived Guwahati Station / Guwahati Airport &Transfer to Bhalukpong.

Bhalukpong: Bhalukpong, positioned on the Assam-Arunachal border and around 250 kilometers from Guwahati, serves as a scenic location perfect for fishing and leisurely outings.

Check in to hotel. Rest for the Day. 

stay at Bhalukpong.

Day 2 : Bhalukpong to Bomdila (110 Kms, 3 hrs drive).

The departure for Bomdila early the morning.
Later Visit:

Bomdila Monastery: Built under the guidance of the Dalai Lama, the monastery serves as a residence for over 200 Buddhist monks. It offers breathtaking vistas of the entire Bomdila region. The prayer times at dawn and dusk provide a unique opportunity for individuals to experience profound peace of mind.

It is also advisable to visit the craft center, which specializes in the creation of finely crafted wooden carpets adorned with colorful patterns and masks.

In addition, Bomdila offers a spectacular vantage point of the Kangto and Gorichen peaks, the highest in the state, framed by the picturesque Himalayan landscape and snow-laden ranges. .

Day 3 : Bomdila to Tawang (180 Kms, 6 hrs drive).

Begin your journey to Tawang in the morning.

En route visit:

Jaswant Garh: The war memorial can be found 14 kilometers from Sella Pass, along the path to Tawang. It commemorates Jaswant Singh Rawat, who was awarded the Mahavir Chakra posthumously, the second highest honor in the Indian Army. In the significant battle of Nuranang in November 1962, Rawat, together with two other soldiers from the 4th Battalion Garhwal Rifles, was instrumental in the death of 300 Chinese soldiers over the course of 72 hours.

Sella Pass: The entry to the Tawang Valley is through the Sela Pass, which is situated at a height of 13,700 feet above sea level. Legend has it that a Monpa woman provided vital assistance to Sepoy Jashwant Singh during his fight with the Chinese. She brought him supplies and tended to his injuries. Upon learning of Jashwant's martyrdom, she chose to take her own life as a demonstration of her loyalty.
The presence of Paradise Lake in the Sella Pass enhances the value to your visit. Most of the time, the lake is obscured by a thick layer of snow.

Day 4 : Tawang Local.

In the morning, take the opportunity to explore Tawang by visiting various attractions.

Tawang Monastery(Vihar): Tawang Monastery, India's second largest Buddhist monastery, is the birthplace of the 6th Dalai Lama and accommodates over 700 monks. Established in 1681, it is also known as Galden Namgey Lhatse, meaning "celestial paradise." The monastery features an 8-meter tall statue of Lord Buddha and an ancient library with thangkas and valuable Buddhist manuscripts, including the Kanjur and Tanjur, totaling 850 bundles.

Urqelling Monastery: This location is recognized as the birthplace of the 6th Dalai Lama, who holds the distinction of being the only Indian to attain such a prominent position within the Gelugpa Sect of Buddhism to date. Within the monastery, one can find numerous Stupas (Vihar), attracting visitors from diverse backgrounds during the Buddhist New Year, as they seek blessings for the year ahead.


The Craft Center: The Tawang craft center features a selection of beautiful masks, artisan-crafted carpets, jewelry crafted from silver, coral, and amber, traditional chubas, and appealing mementos that are budget-friendly.

Tawang War Memorial: This memorial is established in honor of the martyrs of the 1962 Sino-Indian war. It stands at 40 feet and is designed in a stupa-like fashion. Locally, it is called Namgyal Chortan, and it displays the names of 2,420 martyrs, inscribed in gold on 32 black granite plaques.

Sangestser Lake: Madhuri Lake, a popular attraction, is found 35 kilometers from Tawang, adjacent to the China border. The thrilling drive to Sangestser Lake reveals remnants of war bunkers from the 1962 Chinese aggression, as well as the scenic PTSO Lake.

Day 5 : Tawang – Bum La Pass Excursion

Early morning, proceed for an excursion to Bum La Pass, located near the Indo-China border (permit required). Witness the breathtaking Himalayan scenery and the snow-covered landscapes. Return to Tawang in the afternoon. Evening is free for leisure or to explore Tawang town and local markets. Overnight stay is at Tawang.

Day 6 : Tawang to Dirang (140 Kms, 4 hrs drive).

We will leave for Dirang the morning.

En route visit Nuranang falls.

Dirang: Dirang, situated 40 kilometers from Bomdila, rests at an altitude of 1,497 meters. This charming hill resort in the West Kameng district boasts an exquisite Apple Nursery, a Kiwi Farm, a Yak Research Centre, a Buddhist Gompa, a Hot Water Spring, and the ancient Dirang Jong (Fort). It acts as the main base camp for treks to Gorichen Peak and offers access to numerous bird-watching trails.

Afternoon visit the natural hot spring, Apple gardens and the Yak Breeding farms.

Stay at Dirang.

Day 7 : Dirang to Kaziranga (286 Kms, 6 hrs drive)

The early morning drive towards Kaziranga National Park. 

Kaziranga: Kaziranga National Park, the oldest park in Assam, is renowned worldwide for its population of the great Indian one-horned rhinoceros, which thrives in this region. Located on the southern bank of the Brahmaputra River, the park spans an impressive 430 square kilometers, featuring a stunning array of dense rainforests, towering elephant grass, and extensive reed beds, all interspersed with expansive marshes and shallow pools that serve as a favored habitat for this iconic prehistoric creature. Additionally, wild elephants, hog deer, and barasingha are plentiful in the area. It is advisable to make advance reservations for at least one night at the forest lodge to experience the breathtaking early morning views of the rhinoceros from an elephant's back. Jeep safaris are also available for exploration. The park is situated 217 kilometers from Guwahati and 96 kilometers from Jorhat. Enjoy the scenic beauty of Assam's tea estates during your travels. Arrive Kaziranga and check in to hotel.

Day 8 : Kaziranga local and transfer to Guwahati.

Today early morning proceed for the exclusive jeep safari 

Jeep Safari: Take an adventurous jeep safari through the park's marked zones, and keep your eyes peeled for incredible wildlife, including one-horned rhinos, tigers, elephants, swamp deer, and many more species roaming the tall grasslands.

After breakfast explore the local sight seening.

Bird Watch Point: Kaziranga is a paradise for bird lovers, showcasing a variety of unique species including the great hornbill, pelicans, and bar-headed geese. The area's wetlands and forests offer an optimal habitat for both local and migratory avifauna.

National Orchid and Biodiversity Park: The National Orchid and Biodiversity Park, situated in Assam, is a repository of over 500 species of orchids, alongside various medicinal plants and native flora, which collectively illustrate the region's rich biodiversity. The park also includes cultural exhibits that underscore Assam's traditions and natural heritage. It functions as both a conservation center and an educational destination for those who appreciate nature and culture.

Hathikuli and Addabarie Tea Estate: Hathikuli Tea Estate, near Kaziranga National Park, is India's largest certified organic tea estate. Visitors can explore the tea-making process, enjoy lush greenery, and enjoy premium-quality Assam tea. Kaziranga Addabarie Tea Estate offers traditional tea-making practices.

Transfer to Guwahati & overnight stay.

Day 9 : Explore Guwahati Local and drop Guwahati Station/Airport

Today early morning visit the Kamakhya Temple and local sight seening (if time Permit.)

The Nilachal Hills is known for its Tantra (Black Magic) and the sacred Kamakhya Temple. This ancient shrine, linked to Tantric and shakti Cults of Hinduism, was originally destroyed in the 16th century but was rebuilt in 1665 AD by King Naranarayan.

Umananda Temple: Umananda Temple, located on Peacock Island, is a serene place of worship dedicated to Lord Shiva. Named after the Hindi words 'Uma' and 'Ananda', it is situated on the island's Bhasmakala hill. Built in 1694 A.D., it was rebuilt in 1897. The temple houses 10 other Hindu Gods and is a serene environment, offering a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of religious ceremonies.

Guwahati Zoo: The Assam State Zoo cum Botanical Garden, also known as the Guwahati Zoo, is a renowned wildlife sanctuary in Guwahati, India. Covering 430 acres in the densely vegetated Hengrabari Forest Area, it is the largest of its kind in the North-East region. The zoo features captivating landscape gardens, a diverse wildlife, and a serene environment, making it an admirer's paradise.

Umananda Island (Peacock Island): Umananda Island, the world's smallest river island, is home to the rare Golden Langurs, a sacred species in the Himalayas. Known as Peacock Island by British colonists, it is believed to be the site where Lord Kamdev was burned to ashes by Lord Shiva's third eye. The island's main attraction is the Umananda Devi Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva.

Guwahati War Cemetery: Established by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission during the war, this cemetery was located in an area that housed multiple military hospitals. It was initially designated as a burial site for those who died within these hospitals. Today, it is the final resting place for 517 casualties.
